Continental launches Generation 5 regional-haul truck tyres
Why it matters: a top-three global tyre maker refreshing its regional-haul line with double-digit mileage claims matters to cost-squeezed fleets watching every input price, tyres included.
Continental has launched two new regional-haul truck tyres, the Conti HSR 5 EP steer tyre and Conti HDR 5 EP drive tyre, aimed at fleets running frequent stop-start routes through urban and suburban areas. The steer tyre uses a five-rib tread designed for even wear and low rolling resistance, with Continental claiming a 22 per cent mileage gain over the outgoing model. The drive tyre gets an open-shoulder tread with added stone-trap and cut-and-chip protection, and a claimed 19 per cent improvement in removal mileage. Both tyres went on sale in October 2026, with more sizes due through 2027.
