Why it matters: PACCAR Australia has launched its biggest DAF range refresh in years locally, four models covering everything from city distribution to flagship long-haul, with the XG and XD partly built here. A direct signal of confidence in diesel linehaul trucking even as electric trials get louder press.

PACCAR Australia has officially launched the New Generation DAF range nationwide, four trucks aimed at different jobs. The XB runs a 7-litre Cummins PX-7 for city work, the XD gets DAF's 11-litre MX-11 for distribution and vocational duties, the XF carries the 13-litre MX-13 for interstate freight, and the flagship XG uses a 15-litre Cummins-Paccar PX-15 pushing 660hp and 3,200Nm for long-haul. The XG and low-tare XD are built locally at the Bayswater plant. Trucks are available now through DAF dealers, with a roadshow running through December. PACCAR Australia managing director Damian Smethurst said the trucks blend "global engineering with Australian manufacturing expertise."
